From Cart Washer to PGA Pro – Nazeem’s Amazing Journey! |
Here at St Francis Links, we’re absolutely bursting with pride to announce that our very own Nazeem Goeda has officially qualified as a PGA Professional!
That’s right, from humble beginnings to donning that coveted PGA jacket, Nazeem’s journey has been a great one to follow.
He started at the very bottom, a true golf assistant extraordinaire, who made sure our carts sparkled, the driving range was pristine, and your clubs were gleaming after a round.
Looking to find growth – Nazeem took on the responsibility as a company and staff driver. It wasn’t long before Nazeem got his PDP (Professional Driving Permit, for those not in the know) and took on the crucial responsibility, ensuring that the St Francis Links workforce got to work safely and on time.
Not too long after that, something truly special happened: Nazeem learned to love the game of golf itself. It wasn’t just a job anymore; it was a passion.
He then joined the PGA program, embarking on a rigorous journey to become a professional. He was a familiar face, and a willingness to get involved when duty calls.
Nazeem attended the award ceremony at the prestigious Royal Johannesburg, where he was finally presented with the PGA jacket he had worked so long and so hard for!
Well done, Nazeem! Your journey has been a great one, but it’s only just starting. We look forward to following your amazing career and seeing all the incredible things you’ll achieve! |

Muirfield at St Francis Links |
A Day of Tradition, Camaraderie, and (Hopefully) Good Golf! |
Get ready, gentlemen of St Francis Links, for an event that promises to be as steeped in tradition as a well-aged single malt and as competitive as a friendly wager on the 1st tee! We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Muirfield event, hosted right here at St Francis Links on Monday, October 28th.
For those unfamiliar with the hallowed traditions of Muirfield, prepare yourselves for a truly classic golfing experience. The day will unfold over 36 holes of challenging Foursomes golf. That’s right, two rounds of alternate shot, testing not only your individual skill but also your partnership’s synergy and, perhaps, your patience! Remember the golden rule – NO APOLOGIES.
This format, a cornerstone of traditional links golf.
But fear not, for even the most intense competition is punctuated by moments of refined indulgence. After the first 18 holes, we will pause for a traditional Muirfield lunch, complete with fine wine. This is where the true spirit of the event shines – a chance to relax, recount your morning’s triumphs (and tribulations), and enjoy excellent company. And yes, gentlemen, in keeping with Muirfield’s esteemed customs, suits and ties are required – unless you want the fines master to have his eyes fixated on you!
Think of it as a brief, stylish interlude before you return to the links to conquer the remaining 18 holes.
Once the final putt has dropped and the scores are tallied, we’ll gather for a relaxed prize-giving and drinks afterwards.
So, save the date and keep a keen eye on our upcoming communications. |
Get ready, St Francis Links members – they’ve decreed a rematch! |
Remember that glorious Friday when we hosted our “Good Neighbours” from Humewood?
The sun was shining, the course was pristine, and our team delivered an absolutely dominant display, securing a resounding 14-2 victory! It was a spectacle, a celebration of golf, and a testament to the incredible talent we have here at St Francis Links. We extend a huge thank you to the Humewood management team – Brendon Timm, Dylan Reid, Wiele Rademeyer, and Hugo Maritz (Humewood captain) – for their sportsmanship and for making the initial event such a success.
Now, mark your calendars for October 31st, because we’re heading to Humewood for the return fixture, and let’s just say they’ll be looking for revenge!
While we might have suggested they’d need a “Miracle at Medinah” type comeback, we know they’ll be bringing their A-game on their home turf. This is more than just a golf match; it’s a chance to renew friendly rivalries, enjoy another fantastic day on a links course, and show them that our victory wasn’t a fluke! Let’s rally our support and cheer on our St Francis Links team as they aim to continue their winning streak. Get ready for another thrilling chapter in the “Battle of Links Courses”!

Half the Course: All the Opportunity |
Stand a Chance to play at Royal Birkdale and attend the 154th Open Championship.
We will be running a series of 9-hole competitions from October and an order of merit based on your performances in these – you will stand a chance at progressing to the regional competitions and winning this amazing prize. |
Be sure to follow the groups – we will highlight the days. You can enter via the Clubmaster booking application. |
Get ready to get Eclectic! |
We’re thrilled to announce our Eclectic Competition, running from 1 June to 30 September 2025.
For those new to the term, “eclectic” isn’t just a fancy word for “a bit of everything” – it means you get to pick your best score on each hole over the entire competition period. In short – golf’s greatest hits! This isn’t a one-and-done deal, however, you need to be consistent!
To truly conquer the eclectic, you need to be out there, rain or shine. Every individual Strokeplay/Stableford round counts! That seemingly insignificant tap in on a blustery Wednesday could be the difference between bragging rights … or some banter being sent around in “The Bunker” (that’s the new lower section in Jack’s Bar!)
Overcoming these “obstacles” is what separates the contenders from the “I’d rather join the knitting club” crowd. To keep you on the edge of your golf carts, we’ve got real-time leaderboards set up on ScoreCapture.
Check them out regularly to see where you stand and who you need to beat. |

Here’s a twist. An irony. If you’re reading this, then you’re part of the global digital village that has changed the world. More change is coming. |
The greater purpose of the game of golf is becoming more and more the preservation of that which makes us human. Real-world engagement. Face-to-face connections. Shared experience, outside, away from the screen. |
More than a game
We have under-estimated the positive impact that face-to-face engagement with friends has on mental well-being. Those connections are vital to how we feel about ourselves and the world. If golf was ever the game the world needed, then it is now.
More than friendships
The game isn’t just about new friendships and deeper connections. |
Children now spend so much time online influenced by peers and strangers.
Golf offers such an opportunity to connect parent and child. Grandparent and child. It provides a shared experience of common challenges and struggle. Shared achievement and joy. It opens the door to communication and closer connection.
Call someone today
Don’t wait. Act now. Arrange a game of golf today with a friend or family member. Make golf an important part of your and their life. You’ll both be better off. |
If you’d like an INTRODUCTION |
If you’ve joined the club but don’t have a regular golf partner or would like to expand your network of golf partners, please reach out or mail us now, and we’ll get you set up for a fun 9- or 18-holes in the coming weeks. |

If your game would be best improved by an improvement in your north-south consistency (hitting the target distance) and extra ball speed to help you take less club on approach, then we should look at the ZXi5 Irons from Srixon. |
|
 |
 |
Ball speed is amplified and forgiveness added by the network of milled channels on the rear of the face. The forged face improves the already exceptional feel, while added tungsten weighting makes it easier to hit solid shots. |
NO COMPROMISE on what you want |
We’re committed to your having a better golf game. This means that whether it’s ball flight, launch, consistency, or workability that will improve your game, it’s our job to find it. That no longer requires us to compromise on how the club feels at impact. |
