Hey Golfers, Gimmies, and Guessing Geniuses! |
Quiz Night! We’re talking about a night where the only thing sharper than your short game will be your wit (and maybe a few strategically placed guesses!). Our pro team is cooking up a quiz that’s guaranteed to have you laughing, scratching your head in delightful confusion, and possibly even doing a happy dance when you nail that impossible question. Think of it as a mental obstacle course, but with more laughs and less sand traps!
And what’s a quiz night without some glorious prizes? We’ve got bar tabs up for grabs to keep those tongues loose and minds open – because let’s be honest, a little liquid courage never hurt anyone’s trivia skills! To secure your spot at this brain-bending, belly-laughing extravaganza, simply click on the poster above and hit that “Book Here” button (bottom right, you can’t miss it!). We’re expecting a full house, so don’t get stuck in the rough – book your team’s spot now!
Now, for a little extra fun! Do you have a burning question you’ve always wanted to see in a quiz? Or perhaps a specific golf rule you’d love us to incorporate (or hilariously twist)? We’re all ears! Submit your brilliant ideas along with your booking… |
While this isn’t essential for booking, it’s your chance to leave your mark on the night! And speaking of St Francis Links being a hole-in-one rich course, we’ve got a special brain-teaser for those of you lucky (or unlucky!) enough to make a hole-in-one on a busy day: how many high-fives do you really have to give?
We can’t wait to see your smiling faces and competitive spirits! Let the games begin! |
Cape St. Francis Angling Club Fundraiser |
A Day of Grit, Grins and Giving Back! |
 |
Despite the blustery conditions this past Friday, a fantastic field of golfers descended upon St Francis Links for the Cape St. Francis Angling Club’s much-anticipated fundraising golf day.
While the skies were cloudy, the winds high, and the rain occasionally spluttered, the spirits of the participants remained remarkably undampened – a testament, perhaps, to the presence of some truly hardened fishermen among the ranks! It seems even a chilly golf course couldn’t deter those accustomed to braving the elements on the open sea.
The day had some activations designed to keep everyone warm and limber, or perhaps, defrosted!
From a shot of sherry to ward off the chill, to a fiery tequila to ignite the competitive spirit, these “liquid sunshine” stations were a hit (and very necesarry).
The format for the day was a 4-Ball Alliance with 2 Scores to Count with a Scramble Drive, ensuring a lively and collaborative round. However, the golf, while enjoyable, took a backseat to the true purpose of the event: raising crucial funds to support the Cape St. Francis Angling Club in developing their fishing teams, enabling them to travel and compete against other clubs.
As the golfers completed their rounds, a vibrant atmosphere awaited them off the course in our brand new clubhouse!
Live entertainment provided a lively backdrop, a thrilling shootout challenged their precision (hosted by our very own Nazeem Goeda – our homegrown PGA Professional), and awesome food satisfied even the heartiest appetites.
We extend a warm invitation to all golfers to follow our groups and newsletter to stay informed about future events. |
The Clubhouse |
Shaping a Clubhouse Experience You Deserve |
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and honest feedback as we bring the new Clubhouse and its services to life. Your input has helped shape how we move forward. We’re still very much in a building phase. While many areas are operational, systems, training, and service structures are being refined.
The recent soft opening was intended as a starting point, not the finish line, and we continue working at it.
We’re actively working to:
- Consolidate service zones for more consistent quality
- Upskill staff with weekly training, led by senior management
- Introduce new menus in phases to ensure quality execution
- Clarify roles and accountability to build confidence in service
- Improve communication with both the team and our members
- Use quieter days for focused training by closing selected days
We know there may be growing pains, but we’re committed to getting it right, with long-term quality as our focus.
As part of these efforts, we decided today to close the clubhouse from 18–22 August for intensive, uninterrupted F&B training. This is during hollowtining when the golf course is closed, and many of our residents also travel. The Leisure Centre will be open and operate as usual during this period.
Some areas may have limited access in the coming weeks as we invest in our team. We believe it’s more important to do it right than to rush.
We’ll keep you updated and welcome your ongoing feedback via the Glovent Help Desk. Thank you for walking this journey with us as we work toward a Clubhouse experience worthy of this community. |

Lynn Slogrove keeps on dazzling and performing |
Picked to represent the Eastern Province at the South African Mid-Amateur Interprovincial tournament, Lynn has proven to be a fierce competitor and amazing asset to EP and St Francis links for her amazingly consistent performances in competitions! Keep up the great work! |
Get Ready to Get Eclectic! |
We’re thrilled to announce our Eclectic Competition, running from 1 June to 30 September 2025.
For those new to the term, “eclectic” isn’t just a fancy word for “a bit of everything” – it means you get to pick your best score on each hole over the entire competition period. In short – golf’s greatest hits! This isn’t a one-and-done deal, however, you need to be consistent!
To truly conquer the eclectic, you need to be out there, rain or shine. Every individual Strokeplay/Stableford round counts! That seemingly insignificant tap in on a blustery Wednesday could be the difference between bragging rights … or some banter being sent around in “The Bunker” (that’s the new lower section in Jack’s Bar!)
Overcoming these “obstacles” is what separates the contenders from the “I’d rather join the knitting club” crowd. To keep you on the edge of your golf carts, we’ve got real-time leaderboards set up on ScoreCapture.
Check them out regularly to see where you stand and who you need to beat. |
A Little Bit of Housekeeping |
Handicap and Entering Scores Notice |
We have noticed an increase in rounds not being closed or entered correctly over the past two weeks and would like to remind golfers that it is their responsibility to enter a score. Any penalty rounds incurred will not be removed or adjusted going forward; this will negatively affect your handicap.
We ask that you please be mindful and enter your scores.
In addition to this, if you have more than two penalty rounds in your list of active scores relating to your handicap calculation, we will not allow you to enter club competitions. |
Hollow-tining and Away Games |
Our amazing course maintenance team will be taking on the task of hollow-tining and reseeding from the 18th to the 31st of August 2025.
This means, sadly, that the course will be closed during this period. We know, we know, it’s a tragedy of epic proportions! But fear not, golf enthusiasts, because we’ve cooked up some delightful alternatives to ease the pain of losing our beloved course for this very worthy (and necessary) cause.
We’ve arranged some away golf trips and reciprocity with surrounding courses to keep your swing in tip-top shape. Nazeem will be hosting a group of 20 to play at Wedgewood on Thursday, August 21st, teeing off between 08h30 and 09h10. The green fees are R280, and the cart fee is R340. Carel will be hosting a group of 20 to play at Pezula on the 28th August and times are to be confirmed. Please email Proshop@Stfrancislinks.com if you would like to join either.
And, to keep your game sharp during the course closure, we’ll be keeping the range open from 08h00 to 17h00 daily, except on Mondays, when it will be closed.
We have also been approached by several courses that will be offering improved rates over this period. The courses offering improved rates are: Wedgewood, St Francis Bay, Humewood, Knysna, and Goose Valley. Should you be interested in playing at any of these courses, please inform us by sending an email to Proshop@stfrancislinks.com and we will secure that booking for you. |
