Weather Conditions Test our Champions of Champions!
This week, our players faced challenging weather conditions in the Champion of Champion event as they took to the St Francis Bay course for a 9-hole round (adjusted from 18 due to the harsh weather conditions). Despite the horrendous weather, the determination of our players shone through.
Individual Scores
Izzy Obray demonstrated impressive skill under pressure, finishing with a score of 44.

Lynn Slogrove also performed admirably, recording a score of 40.

Leigh Kooiker, while not scoring in the same way as Izzy and Lynn, accumulated a total of 17 points.

Tee off for a PAW-some cause
We’re looking at the four areas of difference between a scratch golfer and an 18-handicap golfer. Last week we highlighted a very specific scorecard difference. If you missed that, please read it now.

The second significant difference between an 18-handicap golfer and scratch golfer is ‘PERFORMANCE FROM 50 – 25 METRES IN’.

From 25 metres, a scratch golfer gets up and down twice as often. Move out to 25 to 50 metres and we see the difference become larger.
Keep a second SCORECARD
Keep a record of your scores from 50 metres in (when you’re NOT starting from a bunker). At the end of the round, calculate the average score. Work on getting that average lower.
Now get BETTER
Polish your technique, and then put in a little regular practice. How many shots could you save?

Discover
Tough dog-leg Par-4. You’ve hit a great tee shot. You could hardly have placed the ball better. Perfect lie. 160 metres to the flag, but the sea is on your right. Which shot do you play? What is your target?
Are you going for the flag? Do you aim for target area 2 and avoid the sea? Still a tough shot. Or, do you play this hole as a Par 5 and take out all risk? A 2nd shot up the fairway with a short club to target area 3. Now you’re left with a simple 40-metre pitch into the green?
Let us know your choice
We think the reasons you play golf influences your decision. If you haven’t already answered the question about your reason ‘why’, then please answer now.
Try a Playing Lesson
A big part of the 10-shot difference between an 18 and 8 handicapper is in the shot selection on the course. Have you ever experienced a playing lesson designed to take shots off your scorecard before any technique improvement?
I’d like to experience a playing lesson
