Sergio Garcia wins the one that will last a lifetime!
When you receive the Green Jacket, it’s not something that you will ever have to give back. It’s will be hanging in the closet at the clubhouse waiting for you. You are not a member, but you can always come back – play as long as you can walk, eat at the Champion’s Dinner and attend the Masters for the rest of your life. Other majors don’t other anything beyond a few years of exemptions – no jackets, no dinners and no participation when your 60.
Sergio said he played with an inner calm that he never had before. I think part of that calm came from Olazabal’s words of support, the spirit of Seve and most of all, the support from his family and fiance, Amy Akin (former college golfer and Golf Channel reporter). He has peace in his life.
Life support with Amy The Moment Thanks Seve
I watched with friends and could not go to sleep after the tournament and prizegiving were finished. The Masters is a tournament where anything can happen – Charl birdieing the last 4 to win, Lefty birdieing the last two to defeat Ernie, Bubba doing what Bubba did and on and on and on…
Oh, there was another highlight on the way to the finish; the word Kooooooch was chanted at the 16th when he holed out for yet another ace on that hole. Last year it was Louis’ moment when he nudged JB Holmes ball away to find the cup – the perfect in-off!
Now we start mentally preparing for the next major, the US Open at Erin Hills!
