…and finding them
Last week, our resident “birder”, Maggie Langlands accompanied some international guests from Australia and Great Britain who were keen on “birding” on The Links
Hi Anne,
I went out with the Aussies and Brits (4 people) on Thursday morning. We spent about an hour and a half and I attach the list of birds spotted.
Caryl helped us find the Thick-knees in the flower beds so they got to meet her too.
They went away happy, all good.
All the best
Maggie

There were some great birds (birdies) spotted at The Players!
Rory McIlroy has done everything in his last tournaments on the PGA Tour except win. That changed at The Players on Sunday. On a course where normal golfing humans could not break 100, the professionals who played were, at times, humbled and the other times, rewarded for their shots played to narrow fairways, difficult greens and surrounds with water coming into play everywhere that it matters; like the closing three holes where the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY were displayed. To me, The Players resembles the Masters in that it comes back to same, every-improving (well, changing) iconic course. Even Mr Rupert included the 17th at his famed short game facility at Leopard Creek, maybe the best practice experience in the world.
Rory never gave up. In the end, he played shots at 15, 16, 17 and 18 that were unbelievably great. Jim Furyk found himself playing against the European Ryder Cup team with Rory, Tommy and Jon making their runs. He fell one shot short after birdieing the last. Eddie Pepperell made a bomb on 17 only to be outdone by Jhonattan Vegas when he holed it from the front of the green to the back right pin location, the longest in history. The big names were all there and Rory got the weight off his back by winning The Players. This may be a year where the others are playing for second-best!
I kinda preferred the “fuller-figured” young lad!
Maybe the equipment is the difference, check out Rory’s TOOLS!
