We defend our Pam Golding Annual title! |
The Pam Golding Annual, the epic battle between The Bay vs The Links! |
 |
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Richard Arderne and Pam Golding Properties for their unwavering support and innovative approach in making this event, which took place last Saturday and Sunday, possible.
Day 1: The Bay Course
On the first day, golfers took on the beautiful 18 holes at The Bay, competing in a Betterball Stableford format with an 85% Handicap Conversion for the morning round. After an exhilarating day on the course St Francis Links took a commanding lead of 1.6 points!
Day 2: St Francis Links
The second day had some surprises – with winds forecasted for 20 km/h, we saw wind at times that would make a few birds of flight consider walking. It got close to 45 km/h, keeping our competitors on their toes. The round started off with a shotgun and ended with a light meal, drinks, and entertainment in our new temporary bar facility which is proving to be very popular!
St Francis Links drove home their lead with a 3.5-point winning margin! In tandem with the competition, we had day prizes and overall prizes for the competition.
We would like to highlight Links members Yan Coesens and Jo Viviers who won the overall event, walking off with some great prizes from Titleist and FootJoy. |

The atmosphere at our club has been lively with the introduction of our “new” temporary bar located downstairs. This initiative comes during a period of renovations, specifically while we are replacing the roof and upgrading the upstairs area.
Our new bar has now accommodated two large events:
The Pam Golding Annual Prize Giving and the Investec Betterball Medal.
These events attracted over 100 attendees, creating an energetic environment filled with laughter and camaraderie. The successful turnouts highlight how well our temporary setup has been received by both members and guests. |
How to access the Clubhouse during construction |
We encourage everyone to come down to enjoy a selection of drinks, catch some sports on the television, and explore our menu offerings. A combination of good company, entertainment, and quality refreshments! |
 |
With the main level of the building now handed over to Rennasance Construction (the contractor), all access through it is restricted. As such, you can access the lower level where the Bar, Halfway Deli, Bard’au Medi-Spa and Golf Shop is situated, by golf cart, and on foot via the far left- or right-hand side and down the sleeper stairway. There are also two white containers in the parking lot. This is where you will find our welcoming administration ladies who can assist with any queries.
Rennasance is still in the process of establishing the site including erecting of the shadecloth. For construction health and safety reasons, no persons are permitted inside the demarcated construction areas, unless you attended an induction by the appointed practitioner. You are welcome to direct any queries to Liezl Clause. |
Brilliant performance by Lynn Slogrove! |
The EP & Border Championships were held at Humewood on the 25th and 26th of January, where participants faced challenging gale-force conditions. Despite the adverse weather, the competition showcased remarkable athletic performances. Among the standout athletes was Lynn Slogrove, who delivered an impressive performance throughout the event. Competing against a strong field, Slogrove secured a commendable second place in her category.
Lynn Slogrove’s second-place finish at the EP & Border Championships is a significant achievement, especially considering the gale-force conditions that challenged all participants. |

Playing better golf is a fun experience. But when all is said and done, a round of golf is almost always about fun with friends. |
|
Yes, good shots matter. But just as your mobility and flexibility are critical to your golf AND your experience of life, so are connections important to both.
For most people, there is a direct correlation between the number of connections they have and their sense of well-being.
|
|
And we care, because the more golf connections you have, the more golf you’ll play, and that will almost inevitably improve your relationship with the game, never mind your friends. |
Part of our job is to create introductions. If you’d like to expand the number of potential golf partners you can play with, then just drop us an email or let us know in the shop. |
