St Francis Bay, Wedgewood, Humewood and ST Francis LINKS

The SA top-100 course rankings came out this week and we at St Francis Links moved closer to the top-3 and are delighted to be regarded so highly at number 4! Wedgewood was acknowledged for producing the best greens in the Eastern Cape (always have been great). St Francis Bay moved up again to 82 and deserves better green or dry! Humewood remains in the top 10 and remains a great first or last stop for a fanflippintastic weekend of golf in the Bay.

Congratulations to all!

What’s Happening?

Els for Autism returns to St Francis Links with a fully subscribed event!

When Ernie Els came to terms with the fact that his son, Ben, had Autism, the first thing he did was to put it on his golf bag, embracing the challenge publicly. Years have now passed and Ernie (and Liezl) will be known as much for their contributions to Autism awareness and research. Their Centre in Florida is world-class. Their events and projects in South Africa have assisted hundreds of families. We, at St Francis Links, are proud to play a role in raising funds for Ernie’s kids! For those who are playing on Thursday, bring your chequebook, uh, and credit cards.

Delivering the best practices for children with autism, and their families, in South Africa via an innovative multi-faceted e-learning solution.

Ernie and Liezl Els embarked on a goal in January 2011 to create a service that would allow lower-resourced families of children on the spectrum in South Africa with free access to effective treatment. The Ernie Els Centre for Autism, located in Braamfontein, Gauteng, does exactly that. The team believes that every child with autism can learn and deserves access to effective education. The Centre recognizes that every parent and family member plays an important role in helping their child reach his or her fullest potential. This is done by offering families comprehensive guidance on how to use best practices in education and autism treatment to teach their child.

The Centre provides each family with free access to an online-focused treatment tool called Rethink First. This intervention utilises Applied Behaviour Analysis principles, which has been shown to be the most effective teaching tool for individuals with autism. Our trained facilitators use this multi-faceted e-learning solution to provide customized interventions for each family. Given that the Centre’s reach is nationwide, it provides support in numerous ways, including in-Centre sessions, as well as telephonic and Skype guidance. This is done on average every 2-4 weeks, with the intention of participants practicing and incorporating these skills into their daily life.

The Centre’s services also include training caregivers using structured written and video computer-based guidelines, along with active role-play and facilitator-caregiver-child sessions. The Centre’s primary goal is to help empower caregivers to teach a plethora of skills – from toileting to matching colours or throwing a ball, to comprehension skills and social understanding. Each child’s progress is closely monitored to ensure that they are receiving the most individualized and successful support possible.

The Ernie Els Range

Having built a successful golf course design business over the last decade and more, his “home bases”, The Els Clubs and the Ernie Els-designed golf courses are a priority of Ernie’s.
The clothing has followed this great pedigree, using great quality materials and designs.

These beautiful garments are proudly manufactured in South Africa.
The entire range is built around soft colour pallets, a more conservative, distinguished look to the silhouette.
It has a luxurious feel with a slight sheen to the fabric comprising the first collections bearing his name.

Visit the Golf Shop at St Francis Links and our expert team will assist in having you fit with the perfect size.
