The PGA Championship is OFFICIAL!

The 2nd oldest tournament in South Africa, The PGA Championship, will be played from 4-7 November! 156 PGA Tour Professionals will tee it up from Thursday to Sunday, all hoping to claim the trophy which proudly displays the names of golf’s greatest champions.

This year and for the next two years (at least!) St Francis Links has the honour of partnering with THE PGA OF SOUTH AFRICA, THE SUNSHINE TOUR AND EASTERN CAPE PARKS AND TOURISM. This tournament, restricted somewhat by time will be an opportunity to lay the foundation for events to come.

The tournament will not only bring great recognition for this fantastic course and estate, but it will also benefit our town, our district and the entire Eastern Cape. Supersport will provide extensive coverage with daily reviews on Thursday and Friday, as well as live coverage on Saturday and Sunday.

This will also be the first sporting event allowing spectators since Covid! It will be promoted through all media channels with the hope that many golfing fans will make their way here!

Upcoming Events

EP Champs and the National Nomads Junior Order of Merit will take place back to back in October. Starting with the Order of Merit, golfers from all over South Africa will play three days on SA’s 5th best! The event has been raised in status with international points earned for the first time. Originally scheduled for early July, this is now on with improved Covid regulations. Tuesday will be the new Wednesday on the 5th as the tournament runs from the 6th to the 8th. This is one to come and watch. our future stars will be leading the way! Reciprocal rates will be arranged at nearby Clubs.

The Ladies’ Invitational (Member/Guest) will be played on the 16 of October and we expect our best field ever. Who will get their names on the Champion’s Board this year?

Tony and Mark win the Invitational!

Tony Gunton and Mark Fensham overcame the Easterly and the Westerly as well as 114 other golfers to get their names on the Champion’s Board. Their score of 78 pts was just enough to pip Martin King and Johnny Johnson as well as Danie Cronjé and Steven Basson. While Mother Nature left her mark, the praise for the course and the event was overwhelming. Thanks to all who participated.
