The Ladies Invitational – Another Fantastic Event!
We were proud to host the lady’s invitational this past week in some stunning weather! Not a breath of wind allowed a pleasant experience for our lovely lady members and their accompanying guests.

Local Real Estate was the main sponsor, splashing vibrant colors all around the course and the club house. And we thank Anne Coesens and Bard’au & Co who have supported this special event for years!

The ladies arrived to a warm welcome, receiving a well-stocked gift bag, bottles of water, and some warm coffee and muffins.

The ladies were welcomed off the course with a refreshing gin – sponsored by Awe Gin right out of Port Elizabeth, to set the tone for a light and relaxing afternoon lunch and prizegiving.

Local Real Estate and Bard’au & Co made sure that the prizegiving table was well stocked for such this prestigious annual event.

The competition format was Betterball Stabelford and we had a photo finish with 3 Ladies Teams finishing on 41 Points!

Golf Course Closure and Club Hours for August 2024
It’s the time of year when our team carry out annual maintenance on the golf course. As such, the course will be closed from 12 to 26 August. It’s also a good time for annual leave.
The clubhouse will be open daily from 07h30 to 16h00 for the duration of hollowtining. Once we open, the golf course will still remain closed on Mondays.

Your golfing calendar
We read that the majority of golfers still don’t get properly fitted when buying golf equipment. So, we have a question for you:
Which improvement out on the golf course would interest you most?
• You’re shooting lower scores.
• You’re getting more enjoyment playing the game.
• You have increased confidence that you’re more likely to hit a solid shot.
• You’re finding it easier to make a good swing.
• You’ve gained 15 metres on tee shots.
• Your approach shots hit more greens with stopping power.
• You’re hitting crisper short-pitch shots with more control and consistency.
• A reduction in aches and pains after golf.
Which of those improvements do you think a personal club fitting would help to deliver?
The best, whoever you are
That’s right, whatever you would like to achieve out on the golf course, a custom fitting will help to deliver it. And the scale of benefit is greatest for the least experienced of golfers.

He’s playing the
RIGHT GOLF BALL
If you watched the Open Championship, you saw a lot of Srixon players in and around the top of the leaderboard. K.J. Choi has gone one better and WON the Senior Open Championship.
The Open Championships are all about strategy, and control of the golf ball. Tee shots that can use the wind or penetrate. Shot shape on approach that takes out the bad miss. Low flighted wedge shots with a lot of spin.
There are THREE GOLF BALLS the Professionals use to MAXIMISE THE PERFORMANCE that is important to them:
Chosen by those looking for maximum greenside spin for unmatched control and stopping power.
Very popular amongst those looking for maximum ball speed to create the longest driver and iron distance.
K.J. Choi’s choice with a blend of greenside control and distance and spin for shot-shaping on iron shots.
To make sure he wasn’t sacrificing any control around the green, K.J. Choi was using the Cleveland RTX 6 ZipCore 50, 54, 58 Wedges.

Golf is the “search for perfection” but is, unfortunately, a “game of misses”. Do your choices on the course increase or reduce the risk associated with a miss?
If you’re in the low 90s or high 80s on most rounds, we’re pretty sure that better game management gets you below 85. Make the right choices, and you reduce the impact of inevitable misses.
Try the best way to learn
Playing golf is a great way to learn. Especially when you have someone to offer the coaching and advice to translate your performance on a hole into an improvement on the scorecard.
