St Francis Links is in company with the Industry’s best providers!

Liezl, Eugenie and their team have been providing memorable wedding experiences for hundreds of brides and grooms here at St Francis Links. Now, the brides themselves have voted for their best venues, catering, accommodation and service – St Francis Links featured in the top five in all categories! Keep us the great work and passion for presenting the couples with the best of the best! Oh, they don’t have a category for Best Golf Course for the Wedding family – if they did, we would win that one hands down!!! Ask the grooms!

We are having our best year ever!

The Club did extremely well in the third quarter, April to June, with spectacular events taking place in the Club and on the course. The biggest surprise of all was the addition of the National Senior Inter-Provincials to our schedule after the budget was submitted and accepted last August. I have lobbied through the years with Eastern Cape Golf, SAGA, Women’s Golf, Golf RSA and the Sunshine Tour for events that will showcase the Estate and our facilities. The events have raised our profile in the marketplace and led to more events and good exposure. I must note that a member asked why we host juniors as they mess up our course. My response is quite simple – they represent the future of the game. We host top level golfers who respect this course and share their good support for SFL with others. Maybe the best event was the hosting of the Senior Inter-Prov as many of the participants are top players in the regions and known and respected members in their Clubs. The event was a roaring success where the standing ovation at the final prizegiving dinner said it all. They will become great ambassadors.

The National Women’s Senior Championships followed in May (budgeted) and this tournament also highlighted our quality of food and service which came in the form of the opening and closing functions. The course was prepared beautifully, and the ladies were treated as members for their stay. This is the event I lobbied for in 2012 and we shared the event with the Bay Club. Their course received some timely rain and looked fantastic for the tournament. The week showcased St Francis Bay in a perfect light as the weather once again, performed for us.

In June, we secured another Nomads National Junior Order of Merit where past winners and competitors, Jovan Rebula, British Amateur Champion, Wilco Nienaber, British Stroke play Champion, Christo Lampbrecht, SA Amateur and Irish Champion and Martin Vorster, British Junior Champion, have all competed here. I’m sure we provided the test that gave them all the confidence to compete at the game’s highest level.

Couples Golf – August 4

Marlene reaches 100!

Marlene Webber

Over the past 5 years, a number of our property owners enjoy participating in parkrun on our estate each Saturday morning.  Averaging 130 participants each week, parkrun (always spelled with a small “p” and as one word), has seen a total of  169,855km walked or run on our estate thus far!  And this week, resident Marlene Webber completed her 100th parkrun!  Congrats Marlene!

Dear Jeff
I just wanted to express my gratitude on behalf of our group (The Honourable Company of Cape Town Golfers – please don’t make fun of our name! 😉
Our tour to St Francis was truly memorable and you, and your team of professionals, made us feel like celebrities although we didn’t come close to playing like it! You have made 15 guys your new ambassadors and justified, why I told them beforehand, that SF Links is the best course in the land.
Thank you for the effort and making us feel most welcome.
Eugenie – thank you for your organising of everything beforehand – clockwork!
Kind regards
Guy Picken

Note: we like ambassadors!
