The 2025 St Francis Links Masters Event |
Our recent Masters event was a thrilling experience, held over two days at our Jack Nicklaus Signature design – a worthy name synonymous with the Masters competition!
Our event showcased some great golf and “gees” (especially at the shootout!), with an exciting finish on the final hole of the championship! |
Day One wrapped up brilliantly – with some festivities afterwards! |
The first day focused on the par 3 course, where we witnessed quite the display of short game mastery.
Both Ernest Bendeman and Lynn Slogrove excelled, each finishing with impressive rounds of 2 under par (Lynn playing off a 9 handicap!).
Andy Vogel also had a stellar showing, securing second place just four shots behind the leaders. Keeping him in contention heading into the final day.
A highlight of the day was our traditional shootout on the top terrace, where participants enjoyed pimento cheese sandwiches, gin and tonics with some music in the background to really get the vibe going – a nod to Chef Pieter and your team! Those pimento cheese sandwiches could rival those at the Masters!
Stefan Strampe hit a great shot on the 18th hole, winning a special Masters themed outfit for the final day, the Masters green is such a good colour! |
Final day at the Masters! |
The final day featured an Individual Stableford format across 18 holes on our championship course. Lynn Slogrove started strong with a commanding lead from the outset.
However, both Ernest and Andy were determined to close the gap. By the time they reached the 13th hole, Lynn’s lead had shrunk to just two shots.
Despite this pressure, Lynn maintained composure and delivered a steady performance throughout the remaining holes. Keeping it cool, calm and collected in some not so fair conditions with winds picking up to almost 60km/h at some stages!
With this win, Lynn Slogrove became our second Masters champion and proudly received our coveted green jacket! |
Our previous Masters Champion – Brett Meyer (2024) – Handing over the greenjacket to Lynn Slogrove. |
Well done on a great performance, Lynn! |

The 2025 Masters: A Celebration of Rory! |
What a thrilling ride the 2025 Masters turned out to be! Golf fans around the world were on the edge of their seats, and for good reason.
After years of near misses, Rory McIlroy finally broke through at Augusta National!
The final round was a nail-biter, featuring an exhilarating playoff that showcased Rory at his best. With each swing, you could almost hear the collective sighs of relief from fans who have been rooting for him through thick and thin. |
Justin Rose Shines Bright |
Let’s not forget about Justin Rose, who also delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
But here’s to Rory McIlroy for breaking through at last, not only with the green jacket, but also bring only the 6th golfer in history to achieve a Career Grand Slam! |
Youth programme students completing their placement at St Francis Links |
Time flies when you’re having fun (and learning at the same time)!
Anathi Ham and Lucille Marais came to St Francis Links 1 year ago, on a Youth Sponsorship Programme, in pursue of their dream … becoming a chef at our prestigious Golf and Residential Estate. |
From a group of 9 students, they have stood the test of time, handled pressure and performed exceptionally well.
Pieter Germishuys, Hospitality Manager at St Francis Links took them under his wing and trained them over the past 12 months, to not only learn about cooking and food, but also to set personal goals, chase their dream and to persevere! Take on every opportunity, soak up knowledge like a sponge and put it into practice.
The next group of students (aspiring chefs and waiters) will arrive in May. They will be here for a full year and who knows, maybe one of them will be the future Gordon Ramsey, Jamie Oliver or another celebrity chef.
Pieter’s MOTTO is simple: “ASPIRE, TO INSPIRE, BEFORE YOU EXPIRE” |

Think about your game management on approach shots. Now, several weeks out from the event, is a good time for a swing assessment and some improvements to practice. |

WHAT’S THE
PAY-OFF? |
What is your launch angle with your #7 iron? Do you know? Is it too high for your ball speed or too low? How much difference would an adjustment make? |
In a fitting a golfer dropped their launch angle 2° with a fitted #7 iron courtesy of a better fitting shaft. He added 23 yards to his carry distance and reduced his shot dispersion by 40%. How much improvement would you see? |
A golf club is more than a pretty face. It is more than the latest materials manufactured with breakthrough techniques to a design enabled by AI super-computers. A golf club should be built for your golf swing. Then the real breakthrough happens for you, out on the golf course. |
What improvements could be delivered for you? How much better would your shot-making be? How would that make your golf experience better? |
