St Francis Links Annual Staff Celebration with Karaoke at St Francis Brewery
The recent staff party held at St Francis Brewery was a resounding success, bringing together the dedicated team of St Francis Links for an afternoon filled with fun, camaraderie, and entertainment. This event not only celebrated the hard work and achievements of the staff but also fostered a sense of community among team members.
The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Jeff, who expressed his gratitude for the team’s commitment and efforts throughout the year.
Following this, attendees enjoyed a delicious spread of food and beverages provided by St Francis Brewery, known for its exceptional craft beers.
As the day progressed, the main attraction, karaoke, took centre stage. The team showcased their singing talents! We are so proud of those who received their long-service awards, as well as the SHE reps who excelled in their duties.
We do have a wonderful team at the Links! Thank you all! |
What are the odds of THAT! |
We very rarely see the pin on the 17th hole any other place than back left due to the aggressive contours of the green. But with the persistent Easterly wind directions we have been encountering the past few weeks, we decided to mix it up! And lo and behold, a HOLE-in-ONE by Johann Spangenberg.
This is pin placement only gets utilised 4 or 5 times a year – so this is truly a remarkable achievement. |
Our First Ever Bullseye Shootout was a blast! |
We hosted our inaugural Bullseye Shootout on Saturday! Such fun by all!
Congrats to the winners:
Rian Wagenaar & Sue Gray |
Hard Luck Ladies! Well get ’em next year! |
The Battle of the Babes, an annual friendly between neighbouring clubs, was won by The Bay.
In the individual battle, our congrats to Lynn, Robyn, Debbie and Petronell for coming 1st and 2nd. |
A strong showing representing St Francis Links! |
The SA mid amateur IPT started on Monday at Humewood GC. On a fair weather day, our players went out very determined and beat Central Gauteng, halved with Ekurhuleni. On Tuesday the team battled in a very windy day and defeated both Gauteng North and Northern Cape.
Well done to the EP MID AM team who halved the Cup with Western Province. |
Well done Chris van Rensburg on a brilliant performance. |
Well done Pieter! Bringing it home! |
Congratulations Pieter Zietsman for winning the EP Amateur. He defeated Devon Valentine 2 up in the 36-hole final. Well done to both for making the final.
He is now the only player in the 53-year history of this flagship EP event to have won it 3 times!! Awesome. |
Our hospitality and golf team are proud to continue to bring exciting happenings… don’t miss out! |

Unlock Lower Scores |
What level are you
approaching from? |
Which is the longest iron that you hit consistently? At which iron does your consistency break down?
We’d like you to identify which of the following levels you’re in. |
You have no confidence you’ll actually hit the green with any full iron shot.
You’re comfortable hitting #8 iron through wedges, finding the green more often than not, with a low risk of dropping shots. |
From #6 iron up, you’re able to hit the middle of the green with minimal risk of finding trouble and dropping shots.
You’re hitting the green with long irons at least half of the time, and with your mid- to short irons you have such good control that you’re eliminating any risk. |
Better iron play could be your key to unlocking lower scores and a better overall playing experience. |

The Cleveland HB2 SOFT range of putters (along with Speed Optimised Face Technology) has nine stroke-specific models. That means we can make it much easier for you to hit putts that hit their target by matching you to the right model. |

Many of you use time on the range, bashing balls, to improve your swing. Have you tried playing 9 holes with a difference? We’d suggest going out and playing 9 holes with friends… and playing a team scramble drive. Best to count. How low can you go as a team? |
A scramble drive almost certainly guarantees you all having an approach shot from the fairway.
Now try something with your club selection. On every approach shot, wherever the flag is placed, take the club that you know gets you all the way to the back of the green. |
Rarely do any of us pure a shot. Using a #6 iron means you know it doesn’t have to be pure. You can focus more on squaring the club face, rather than hitting your chosen club as far as possible. |
Try it. Does it make a difference? |
Nine holes is good. Nine holes with 9 approach shots from the fairway is even better. And nine holes with friends: does it get any better? |
