The days are getting longer, the sun is shining brighter, and the golf is getting even more … well, let’s just say interesting! We recently celebrated the winter solstice in style with our very first Solstice Shootout, and what a night it was! We transformed the putting green into a glowing wonderland, complete with night golf balls, twinkling lights around the greens and a fantastic spread of snacks and drinks to keep everyone fuelled up for some serious fun. Think of it as golf, but with a dash of magic and a whole lot of laughs.

The event was a knockout competition, with three different targets challenging our golfers’ accuracy. Each player got three golf balls to land within the designated circles. Let’s just say we witnessed some truly stunning shots, and some… well, let’s call them “creative” approaches to the game. The air was filled with cheers, groans and the occasional friendly heckle, all in good fun, of course!

The final showdown was a nail-biter with Marius Alberts and Stefan Strampe battling it out. After a tense round, Marius emerged victorious, crowned our very first Solstice Shootout Champion!

The service was outstanding and it was a spectacular night to spoil our members! More evenings of this quality will be planned in the future.

We had an absolutely fantastic turnout, with over 60 eager beavers hitting our beloved parkrun route. The energy was electric with the anticipation of the early sunset.

Our runners, being the savvy adventurers they are, came prepared! The course was lit up with a kaleidoscope of lumo colours and headlamps, turning the night into a vibrant spectacle. More than 50 enjoyed burgers and drinks afterwards. It was great seeing a number of our own residents join in the fun.

Voting runs until midnight 1 October 2025. The winners will then be notified and the 12th annual World Golf Awards will take place in beautiful Madeira, 12-13 November.
