Santa Welcomes the St Francis Links Team’s Children for a Fun-Filled Afternoon |
In a delightful event that brought joy and excitement to the children of our St Francis Links staff, Santa Clause made a special appearance to celebrate the holiday season. This fun-filled afternoon was designed to create lasting memories.
The event concluded with a heartfelt thank you from Santa, who reminded everyone about the importance of kindness and giving during this special time of year. The smiles on the children’s faces reflected their joy and excitement from an unforgettable afternoon spent together at St Francis Links, where mom or dad works.
This gathering not only celebrated the holiday spirit but also strengthened community bonds among families involved in St Francis Links activities. |
Ladies Member-Member Ends out the 2024 Ladies Tournaments |
The conclusion of the 2024 ladies tournaments at St Francis Links marks a significant milestone for the club and its members.
The Ladies Member–Member is one of our major events and gave a final opportunity for golfers to get their names on the honours board for 2024.
This year, congratulations are in order for Diana Biggs and Irene Torode, who emerged victorious in this prestigious tournament.
Acknowledgment of Contributions
A heartfelt thank you goes out to captain Sue Cogswell, vice-captain Janet McNaughton and their dedicated ladies team. The efforts of the team reflect a broader trend in golf clubs where women’s sections are increasingly supported and encouraged to thrive. The future looks bright for this section as it continues to grow and inspire more women to engage with the sport. Allow 2025 to be your year to try out golf! |

Change your Numbers |
THE GOOD SPIKE |
How many putts do you take per round? It’s an obvious statistic to keep, but we would suggest that you add a little more depth.
a) How many times in the round did you miss from inside 4 feet?
b) How many times in the round, after your first putt, were you outside 3 feet from the hole?
c) What percentage of times from 8 – 12 feet did you make a putt?
There are so many ways to improve your putting. Nothing reduces frustration and increases exhilaration like improved putting. |
Given what we see, beyond technique and the putter being used, quick improvements can be made on longer putts by thinking about where you don’t want to finish. |
1. Embrace the fact that you will sink far more testing 4 and 5 footers going straight uphill than going downhill or across a slope.
2. It’s obvious that a ball with slowing speed is more vulnerable to the slope. So even on the longest putts, how is the slope in the last feet? |
Do you have practice drills to improve your distance control? Have you calibrated the size of backswing with the distance you’re putting? |
If you’re interested in attending a putting school to improve your skills and find more exhilaration spikes in your golf experience |

The Srixon ZXi5 Irons might well be the ultimate blend of power and playability.
The sole, moderate blade length, and offset, will help these cavity back irons offer enhanced distance, forgiveness, AND workability. Everything in a single iron. The forged ZXi faces not only provide exceptional feel, they also retain every ounce of ball speed achieved in the previous generations of ZX Irons. |
The combination of playability and workability is delivered by the next generation of Srixon’s MainFrame. The expanded milled toe channel creates a slightly lighter clubhead with a deeper centre of gravity. That adds to the MOI (forgiveness) on off-centre contact. It also amplifies ball speed. |
Want to ‘feel the difference’? |
If you’re interested in experiencing what ‘better’ might feel like, let us know. We’ll contact you and set up a one-to-one review of the new Srixon iron range. |
