Our Year in Review – Something Special With three National Championships and another Tour event, our golf course, rated number 8 in South Africa, is just getting better and better. In November, we had our best month to budget ever! The word is out for new business and many of our previous guests are returning! Our events in the holidays are filling up fast. The new roof certainly has made it possible to cater for more members and guests without fear of weather interruptions.
Last year we also sold a great deal of property to people who want to build and be part of the estate. We are nearing 100 homes complete with nearly 50% in residence on a permanent basis. More young families are choosing The Links as the perfect place to raise their kids; St Francis locals are also relocating to The Links as the perfect place to retire. As I have said so many times before, “every guest through our gates is a prospective new homeowner”. Our successful events, weddings, functions, tournaments, bridge clubs, birthday parties and more have produced these results.
As we approach our 10th year, we are solvent with funds invested wisely for the future needs. Our lifestyle choices on the estate and in the community are numerous. Our schools in the area are great. Members of our Village are working together creating events and more reasons to call St Francis home or your home away from home! We are always looking to provide the best services on the estate with careful planning and calculated spending. Your team of professionals are just that – professional.
Three cheers to our golfing champions, our new brides, our visitors who come and come back and to you, our valued members who support and realize the good future we have ahead.
South Africa is facing some of her biggest challenges. While the rand is killing us at this time, it is attracting those from abroad. Discover your own home, re-discover South Africa and St Francis. We are expecting a bumper holiday season and we have taken every step to meet and exceed your high expectations!
Finally, our condolences to the families of the members and friends we lost – peace be with you all!
On behalf of Liezl, Andrew and Charl, our EXCO, the Team here and the Board of Directors, have a safe and happy Holiday and a prosperous New Year. Enjoy the little collage that features some of the bright lights from the past year!

Links Business We have added a new message board on the way to the locker rooms called Estate News. It will features happenings on the Estate. In addition to that, the new website is up and running with a log-in for Member access to Member News (please contact Anne at reception@stfrancislinks.com for your log-in details).
Our AGM for both Links Club and the Estate will take place on Tuesday, the 5th of January at 9am. While it is another “good news” meeting, it is imperative that you forward your proxy if you will not be in attendance. My recommendation is that you make Andrew Barton, the company Secretary for both companies, your proxy holder. Proxies are available on the website (member section) and in the Golf Shop.
Thinus Talkin’ – Why go for the pin?
The next time you play a round I encourage you to try to hit the ball to the middle of the green and not to go flag hunting. When you go flag hunting and you miss the green you will leave yourself with a very difficult up and down, and could end up making double bogey instead of par.
If you choose to hit the middle of the green the target is bigger, and that takes away unnecessary stress. If you hit a good shot, it will be on the green and you just need to two-putt for par…
You will see that your ball ends up closer to the pin by going for the middle than it would have if you tried to hit it in the hole from 150m out. |
