The 17th (St Francis Bay)
When that ball starts rolling toward the hole, hearts start racing!
When you play the 17th at St Francis Links, think of it as a very small green with very big and helpful surrounds. Take enough club to reach the small green, and no matter how far right you aim (within reason), your ball will turn left and hunt for the hole.
Only the player who can throw the ball in high should be the one who takes on the flag. Otherwise, play for the roll.
Last year we we approached about doing a hole-in-one challenge on one of our holes. The player simply downloads the ZAPPER app and can scan it in the shop or on the 17th tee. The only real requirement is you play from the same tee you stated the round on. You can wager R20, R50 or R100 to get paid back R20 000, R50 000 or R100 000 for the perfect shot. In addition, we have teamed up with the challenge sponsors to add a further 10% to go to charity!
It’s appropriate that we are the 17th Club in SA to set up the challenge and it’s on our 17th hole! What have your got to lose? AND there are cameras behind the tees and behind the green to record your amazing moment! Hey, we’ve built a new tee, as well.
Julian Wilson, one of the world’s greatest surfers was here with mates during the WSL J-Bay Pro. They actually recorded his amazing on video uploaded it to You Tube
Mr Sandman! Branden Grace’s 2 bunker shots to win, are worth seeing again!
You all know I’m a big Branden Grace fan, and seeing him win again on the American PGA Tour after 5 years, was fantastic. The win moved him back inside the top 100 and certainly gave him the confidence to do more – especially when you watch how he did it.

Adopt a Hole (AAH)
It’s working and you can see the difference. I am not sure if anyone is putting in more of an effort that Ronnie Nienaber on hole 8, but everyone’s effort shows. Ronnie has been out of golf for months with a should injury, but that hasn’t prevented him from doing his thing early in the mornings! He’s proud of Number 8!
Keep it up, everyone!

Meet the Team – Lee-Ann Kettledas
“In December 2017, I started working at St Francis Links as a casual in our Housekeeping department. It was my very first time working in the hospitality industry and since the, I cannot see myself anywhere else! In January of 2018 I was permanently employed! I will never forget that day, it was the best day of my life! At St Francis Links I work as a housekeeper but I love broadening my knowledge and working in the bar with the barmen and shadowing the waitresses and learning new things every day. The best part of my job is serving the guests and creating a clean and fresh environment for them. To smile and let a guest feel welcome when they walk into the Links makes me enjoy my job even more.
Before working at St Francis Links, I used to work as a health care worker at several institutions for the elderly. It was a priority for me for a very long time to take care of my elderly patients. In my free time, I listen to music, I love dancing and I like singing as this often times makes me feel really good about myself. I love several different types of music but Gospel (like Hillsong) is on top of my list because it inspires and motivates me a lot. I passed matric in 2006 in Humansdorp High School and in 2009 I did the NQF Level 1 in Auxiliary nursing (Health Care Worker) at Workforce Solution in PE.
I come from a family of 5 with my parents and 2 sisters. I was the middle and spoiled daughter although life was not always fun and games. In 2016 we lost our eldest sister, after being diagnosed with a rare, but severe cancer, that taught me to appreciate life because she was only 37 years old when she was taken from us to go make her place comfortable in heaven. My parents are my HEROES!! Even in difficult times, they still raised 3 beautiful strong women! I got married in 2012 and we are still going strong, by the Grace of God! I am a mother to 3 beautiful children, 2 boys and 1 girl. I have unconditional love for them!
From me to you: Be yourself, Never allow anyone to make you believe you are not enough! My favourite Bible verse: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
