“We have found our Olympiad”
When Gary Player was here in December he put on a show playing golf near par while helping 15 other golfers in four different groups, playing, then dropping back, then playing some more. I recently saw an article where Mr Player, who is the captain of the South African team attending the Olympics in Brazil. Unfortunately, our top 3 have all withdrawn due to fears of disease.

Fear not, South Africa — despite many Olympic golf withdrawals including Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, and now Branden Grace, the country still has hope in the form of a Black Knight.
Following Grace’s announcement that he was not going to participate in the 2016 Rio Olympics for fear of contracting the Zika virus, Gary Player jumped at the opportunity to volunteer his help.
“I will be in Rio, have no plans for more children and averaged 70 last year,” the 80-year-old legend tweeted. “Ready to play if anymore withdrawals.”
The tweet included some winky emojis to indicate jest, but we wouldn’t be so surprised if Player truly meant what he said. At the rate that players are backing out of the Olympic Games, he just might have that chance. Talk about your knight in shining armor!
Gillian Hammond plays to win it all!
Our congratulations to Gillian Hammond! Member Gill won all 3 legs of this international tournament …. First the local, then the South African and today the Windhoek African International Ladies Golf Challenge in Namibia! Impressive indeed!

“The most perfect day of our lives”
This is without a doubt the best wedding venue. Not only is it a stunning place to get married, with the most amazing views, and reception area, but the staff are unbelievable. Eugenie and her team catered to our every whim and no task was too big or small. Everything was handled with absolute professionalism and perfection, and they did not miss a beat. From co-ordinating our movements on the day to ensuring that we didn’t forget anything during the planning stage. The food and atmosphere, as well as the ease with which everything was conducted, contributed to this being the most perfect day of our lives. Every guest we have seen since the wedding has commented on how amazing the food was and how perfect the venue was. We had one or two unexpected surprises (from our side), but Eugenie took this on as her problem and ensured we didn’t stress about a thing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us achieve the most perfect wedding day!!
Let me just tell you that the food on Friday night was the best we have ever had at the links. Wow – everyone raved about it. Was going to message you today to ask you to please pass on our thanks.
Also – what amazing staff you have. Working till all hours WITH A SMILE!
