Nico Malan Matric Farewell |
|
A showcase evening for Nico Malan – Matriculants shine in a forest wonderland!
This was the third time St Francis Links hosted the Nico Malan Matric farewell. It was a night to remember! Students arrived at a beautifully decorated clubhouse with a stunning forest theme. The ladies’ bright and colourful dresses displayed beautifully against the natural backdrop.
The evening started off with the couples walking through the room in a runway fashion – highlighting the amazing effort put into the outfits and make-up! The hospitality team presented our guests with amazing food, setting the atmosphere for the teenagers to dance the night away!
Well done to all those who were involved in the arrangements! It was a truly magical evening. |

Kromme Enviro Trust with a huge turnout! |
|
We had perfect weather for golf after a cold spell with wind, and we could not have asked for better conditions! The golfers were all in good spirits and generous moods, so the fundraising aspect was extremely successful. An estimated R100 000 towards conserving our Renosterveld Habitat was raised. Wow!
All the golfers had a blast. On top of the golfing competition, a quiz was conducted on the course for all participants, with nature conservation topics to determine the team with the best general knowledge.
Well done to Maggie Langlands with her amazing team. As well as those who participated in this momentous event.
We encourage you to please visit the St Francis Kromme Enviro-Trust website to learn about their amazing initiatives, and how you can make a difference!

One simple equipment refurb |
|
Last week we recommended you keep your wallet in the pocket and not think about new clubs or adjustments to lie angles, until you’d had a swing check to look at your setup and posture. There is one equipment check you should get done though. |
If someone told you that playing with the same clubs with fresh grips (vs grips that had been used for 40 rounds) gave you a 10% improvement on shot dispersion and 3 metres of extra carry distance would that matter to you? How many rounds have you played with your current grips?
There are four simple checks to make of your grips: are they shiny or glossy? Have the cosmetics worn off (as shown below) or is some of the paint fill disappearing? Or have they even reached the stage where they’re starting to crumble? |
Every golfer, even those who’re less experienced, will immediately notice how much better the club feels as you swing it with fresh grips. Much less expensive than buying a new set. A good step towards better ball striking. |
It will be a good idea BEFORE changing grips to let us do a quick check of that grip size. Even more negative for your shot dispersion is the wrong grip size. Now is a good time to have both of those checks. |

Tricky lies |
|
Conquer side slopes |
|
Fairways are full of sloping lies. They’re an additional challenge you’ve got to deal with, and we’re going to help you do just that. |
This one’s probably the toughest sloped lie for most golfers. Catching the ball thin is the tendency here. |
This lie brings the ball closer to you. The loft on the club causes the club face to aim left from these lies so make sure you take your aim carefully, especially with your more lofted clubs. |
Let’s create more scoring chances for you by improving your impact from sloped lies. |
