Winners in 5 Divisions with Lynn taking the Double and Chris Blazing!

The 1st Annual Stableford Champs will not be the last. Mark your calendars for December, gentlemen, for the Men’s Medal Club Championships and ladies, again in April. It seems we have a winner, five to be exact, and a bunch of new friends thanks to mixing the pairings. The 36-hole event was played in perrrrrrfect weather and the course was equal to it, as well. The Club sponsored the event with nice vouchers and no-frills. The vibe (gees) was great and my hat is off to you, the members who played, the staff who went all out, and of course, to the course, which was superb. The Divisions were defined by the SAGA parameters, 6.0 and Under (Men’s A), 6,1 to 14,9 (B), 15,0 and up (C). The ladies were 15.3 and under (A) and 15,4 and up (B). For the first go, it was great to see players representing every division. Hey, special thanks to Dave Hart for supplying litres of his famous ice cream and yoghurt for the champions, the longest walk and to Joe Dickinson who celebrated his 14th birthday!

Chris Van Rensburg – Men’s A, 77 pts (68, 73 gross off 1)

Doug Cornish – Men’s B, 78 pts (38 – 40)

Dave Hart – Men’s C, 70 pts

Lynn Slogrove – Ladies A, 58 pts

Alison Bosch – Ladies’ B, 70 pts

It’s all about relationships

We have been selected as The Links to be part of a great think tank of “like-minded” people who want to promote golf and travel. Chaired by Peter Dros, the head of marketing at Fancourt, the Forum as we are known consists primarily of properties with golf or access to golf. Together we share ideas to promote each other and South African travel opportunities. I have shared our “cool season” packages with them and theirs are coming to me. If golf travel is on your agenda for the next few months, check out what some of our friends have on offer. Since this Forum was launched, Simola,  Durban CC, and Champagne Sports Resort have been brought on board. We are in the process of adding a new page to the website with travel options.

Remember – always call me before you book. Chances are good that I can make a better plan AND introduce you to your hosts as well.

Here are links to some of the packages available today-

Warren to the rescue!

Warren Manser is a resident on the Estate, an active member of Rotary, a giver for everything, and even an auctioneer/emcee when needed. He also catches snakes and relocates them for us on the Estate. On Tuesday we presented to the ladies (and a few men) some great information about what they may see on the Estate and what they should or should not worry about.  The Ladies’ Tuesday Tea at TEN is a gathering for all who want to attend. No RSVPs are required – just come and join in.

SFL hosted the Sea Vita volunteers who helped with the massive food parcel rollout during the lockdown!

Our next close one was Chris Roberts – ouch!

Team member of the Week:

I started working for St Francis Links on the 1st of May 2017 so I’m here for 4 years and a couple of days.  I maintain and repair all of our transport, mowers and equipment that we use on the golf course, with help from my two assistants. To do a job that I like, and see results at the end of a project like setting a mower and when it leaves the workshop you go out and check it, you see it cuts 100%.

I was born in Brits but we moved to Mossel Bay when I was still very young. I stayed most of my life in Mossel Bay until I moved here. I have a sister younger than me and two brothers older than me. My family, well my mom and dad, sister and oldest brother stay in Mossel Bay. But my oldest brother works in America and is moving there next year with his family.  My other brother stays in Ficksburg and here I stay with my wife, my daughter, and my twin boys.

Live for today, because tomorrow is not promised.

Thank you all for caring about your course – #leading the way
