CMASA produced a brilliant Conference

The Club Manager’s Association of South Africa (CMASA) has turned a corner through the efforts of a strong Board and a proper leader in Roxanne Reeves. They have restructured their business and focused more on learning programs and online education. Their annual conference held at San Lameer this past week was an overwhelming success featuring national and international leaders in the industry. The theme was Leadership and every presenting speaker brought valuable information to the delegates.

Brent Lindeque (www.goodthingsguy.com), famous for turning a trending “nomination challenge” into an act of kindness, was our host for the conference and he was terrific. With all our daily challenges, he brought the half-full glass to everything. Watch-

Special, Hey!

The entire conference featured brilliant speakers from South Africa and abroad. Liezl and I both participated in a panel discussion that was facilitated by Gregg Patterson, a legend in the industry with more energy at a very young 75 than the Duracell Bunny. His presentations were captivating witty and most of all, relevant to all of the challenges we face in our industry today. For me and Liezl, the presentations brought support for what we are doing here and offered great new ideas and tools to become better at what we do. The talks also offered me time to reflect on my career and reinforced my belief that “every day, in every way I can be better and better”!

The conference was well-attended by managers and contemporaries from all over SA. I can’t wait for the next one.

This week in Golf

12 October – Kwikelec Betterball – Glynnis Bell and Robyn Roberts

14 October – RE/MAX – Gunny Banks

15 October – Saturday Comp – David Honeyball

 Stars of the Week

Freddy Couples shot 60 on the weekend en route to winning on the Champions Tour. That great round pales to insignificance when compared to what Tom Grimsley did here on The Links – He shot 79 gross while masquerading as an 82-year-old.

If I make a Hole-In-One on the Par-3 course, does it count? Of course, it does! 105m uphill on the 1st hole that results in the perfect fluke is a proper Hole-In-One. Well done, Captain Ronnie!

25 October – The Muirfield (Captain Ronnie’s Day)

How about a Proper Road Trip (with Tony and Rose Gunton)

Hi St Francis Links Members

I have been involved in International  Golf Travel for the past 23 years, and prior to the Covid 19 Pandemic was very active in promoting tours to different parts of the world. I accompanied many of these trips, and during the course of my travels, I was fortunate enough to spend time in the amazing country of Vietnam. The history of North and South Vietnam, and the wars that ensued, have always held a fascination for me, and to eventually visit and tour the country was an amazing experience. The warmth of the people, the country’s emergence after the dark years of war,  to the current-day tourist destination that it has become, make it a must-see for the adventurous spirit oneself.

As a golf tour, it is a premier destination, enjoying many world-class golf courses in the company of beautiful and charming caddies makes it an unforgettable experience!

I have put together a package which looks after the interests of the non-golfer, so if your partner is not a golfer they will still have an amazing touring experience.

I have allowed for 12 nights on the ground in Vietnam, travelling from North to South, including 7 rounds of golf. We will be staying in quality hotels and will be looked after at all times by expert local ground handlers.

Please have a look at the attached itinerary and register your interest by emailing me asap.  The land price is quoted in US Dollars, whilst I have negotiated a Group airfare with Qatar Airways quoted in ZAR.

Join me for an unforgettable experience and let’s make this the first of many St Francis Links Tours into other interesting parts of the world.

Kind regards,
Tony Gunton
