Who will take the top spot?
It’s safe to say 2024 has the potential to be a year to remember for Rikuya Hoshino. With his maiden DP World Tour title already secured, he is thriving on the international stage and playing a big part in putting Japanese golf in the spotlight. Rikuya is Number 2 on the DP World Tour.

Let us know below who you will be backing to take the trophy at the SDC Championship?

The ladies are improving(and growing in numbers)

Our family is growing!
One of our resident tortoises laid eggs on the estate on Tuesday afternoon.

Our wonderful Caryl Logie who has been involved in the Links development for almost 20 years remarked: “I think that’s the first time the egg laying has been watched on the Links,  but I do know of 2 other spots where eggs were laid. One batch came to nothing, but there were hatchlings from the other batch. Amazing laying their eggs, never looking at them and eventually just walking away when the job is done.  Wow that’s so very exciting. I don’t think I’ve watched that for over 60 or 70 years!  They camouflage their nests so well.  It always intrigues me that, if the ground was too hard, they weed a little and dug some more, and weed a little more and stretch those legs further than ever to get the hole deep enough for the eggs”.

This was truly a special sighting!  Charl has protected the site and we pray for the eggs to hatch and bring forth a few babies in a few months’ time!  Watch this space!

From the Professionals
The Significance of Getting Clubs Regripped
Many golfers overlook the importance of golf grips. Numerous beginner golfers are regularly hitting the fairway at a disadvantage due to playing with grips that have been worn down leading to a tighter hold of the club and negative effects on distance. Gone are the days when professional golfers chose to not use grips and instead opted to wear gloves to get a better grip on the club. As grip technology advanced, materials like sheepskin and leather were used. Nowadays, there is an assortment of materials that golf grip producers utilise including cord, plastic and leather. Having the right grip is crucial for a successful golf swing. Comfortable and well-fitted grips provide a solid foundation for your game. So, when should you get new grips, what types are available, and should you have the same grips on all your clubs?

How regularly should I regrip my clubs?

This is one of the top questions for millions of amateur golfers. The answer depends on a number of factors, but in short, it depends on how much you play.

In the event that you’re somebody that plays over 50 rounds of golf (or anywhere close to that), you would definitely benefit from getting your clubs regripped every year. Personally, I get my clubs regripped each low season as I am somebody that fits into this category. Over the course of the golf season, I will play golf in a variety of conditions, and my grips will endure normal wear and tear from being used very regularly.

However, if you fit into the category of most amateur golfers where you play 10-20 rounds a year, you’ll be able anticipate your grips to remain in decent shape for a longer period of time. Regripping your clubs each 2 to 3 years should suffice. When your grips become slippery or start to tear, it’s time to regrip them. Having grips that are elusive in your hands will force you to grip the club more forcefully, which can affect your swing negatively. You want grips that give you confidence, allowing for a lighter grip and a smoother swing.

When last did you regrip your clubs? It’s easy to overlook the condition of your grips, but they play a crucial role in your performance on the course. If it’s been more than a year or two since you last regripped your clubs, it might be time for an upgrade. Take proactive steps to improve your game by regripping your clubs today.

Worn-out grips can negatively impact your swing and overall game, so don’t wait until it’s too late. Use the link below to book a regripping at the Pro Shop and let us help you assess the condition of your grips and get you set up with fresh, high-quality replacements. Your game will thank you!
