Improvements around the greens are going to see the return of the “rollback”

Charl Blaauw and his team have gotten stuck into the green surroundings where we have seen the benefit of a backstop and rollback with a correctly played shot. The 11th was done first. Shortly after it was ready for play, three of us benefited from the reshaping, rolling back to close range (and it was downwind).

Special Projects are part of the annual maintenance plan

Reshaping tees, improving playability, refurbishing bunkers, repairing entrances and exits to cart paths, Pruning trees and bushes throughout the course, eradicating kikuyu from the playing surfaces, and improving the green surrounds are all part of the process.

Don’t underestimate the work that goes on daily

Bongani and Petrus are the lead players in irrigation management. As our system starts to show its age and pressure through the lines fluctuates, breaks are inevitable, almost daily. None was worse than one that occurred under the cart path at 18 Fairway. We had to remove sections of the cart path and dig for diamonds, so to speak. Levelling tees, managing foreign grasses, and keeping our great course in top condition year-round, are our daily focus! What a team we have.

The US Open goes to LACC – it’s going to be amazing!

There will be precious few South Africans in the year’s third Major – the US Open – as the LIV Golf fallout continues to wreak havoc on the OWGR.

As long as the OWGR continues to ignore players in LIV Golf events, this trend will continue.

Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel all missed the PGA Championship because they slid down the rankings. None are present in the field as it stands for the US Open.

No code is required …

Only Louis Oosthuizen of the LIV Golf crew will make it to The Open. Charl Schwartzel is a previous Masters winner and can play for as long as he likes.

South Africans in this year’s US Open include amateur star Aldrich Potgieter, qualifiers Deon Germishuys and Wilco Nienaber, alongside DP World Tour member Thirston Lawrence. That’s it.

Matt Fitzpatrick returns as defending champion, while Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka will be looking to add to their major wins this season; this week’s major is the first since a new agreement was announced between PGA Tour, DP World Tour and PIF, who fund LIV Golf

Thanks to everyone for participating. Well done to the men for winning this year. 🏆 Le Trophée Du Coq. So, before we announced the winning team on Saturday, I asked the room for a show of hands as to 1) Do you all accept a TIE if there is one or 2) Should we go to decimal points to break the tie?

They overwhelmingly supported the tie-breaker!

It was unbelievably close! with the men crowned champions on 36.307 vs the Ladies who came in with a 36.250 – Wow!

.57 of a point separated the men from the ladies…the pics below say it all. 

Lynn Slogrove finished on an amazing 78 gross – her personal best! Well done.

A big thank you must go to our men’s and ladies’ captains – Ron and Sally Nienaber, they introduced it to the events calendar, and it has grown over the years into a must-play!
