Introduction of ScoreCapture at St Francis Links |
We are pleased to announce that we will be introducing the ScoreCapture system to assist both members and staff in the scoring and prize-giving process.
The implementation of ScoreCapture will eliminate the human error aspect from the scoring process and enable the team to go straight into the prize-givings, thus drastically reducing the waiting period for golfers who have finished their rounds earlier than the rest of the field.
The ScoreCapture app links to the golfers’ HNA Handicap system and will automatically calculate golfers’ handicaps based on the selected competition format. This will streamline the check-in process for golfers as well as making scoring far easier, as the app will automatically calculate how many points you made on each hole.
The ScoreCapture app will also help reduce St Francis Links’s carbon footprint, ensuring a better future for all… |
Some of the features include: |
- Eclectic calculations (best scores on a hole with tournaments)
- Order of Merits (Gross/Net averages over selected tournaments)
- Rankings (Different points allocated to different tournaments)
- Digital scorecards showing gross, net, points, and your adjusted gross in an individual or 4-ball format
- GPS rangefinder with a full-screen map, with variable target, zoom, and tilt gestures
- Easy one-screen 4-ball scoring with all the info you need at your fingertips, including a “pickup” button that calculates your maximum score on the hole
- Analysis tools indicating your scoring, par 3, 4, 5 performance, target off the tee, greens in regulation, and putting stats in easy-to-view graphs for your game and your golf journey
- Detailed matchplay scorecard screens with 4 matchplay calculation types (drop to zero, scratch, net, or points)
As with all new practices, there will be teething issues in the beginning. However, in the long run, we are certain that the implementation of ScoreCapture will be beneficial to our members and your experience at St Francis Links.
We urge you to please download the ScoreCapture app on your phones and set up your profiles. |
Over the hollow-tining period, Andrew and Nazeem both took our members on trips to Zwartenbosch and Hankey, respectively.
Along with Percy Owen, Andrew took a few of the members to a fundraising event at Zwartenbosch. It was an afternoon filled with laughs and the opportunity to make a difference for a lovely course. Percy Owen and Norman Pretorius took home the winning prize with an impressive betterball score of 52 points. Percy and the team from Zwartenbosch treated the members to a lovely braai after golf. |
On Wednesday, Nazeem accompanied the members to Hankey Golf Course. To say that the conditions were testing is an understatement, with winds close to 80kph.
Even with these conditions, the feedback received from the club is that it was one of the busiest days they have hosted in a long time!
Well done, Nazeem and Andrew, for treating the members, and a big thank you to the members for supporting our local clubs! |
Hollowtining was a great success |
Charl, our superintendent, reports that hollowtining went exceptionally well, with the weather providing opportunities to carry out more work than planned! The greens were also seeded again with bent.
Players can expect great tees and fairways, but as can be expected, the greens are still slow and picking up speed.
Our team is excited to welcome you all back to your course and clubhouse, where you will still find the halfway house under very exciting renovations! When we open on Tuesday, 27 August, the halfway house will be served upstairs in the clubhouse, with some outdoor catering on beautiful busy days.
And we are also excited to reveal a new-look golf shop when we open! Yes – lots to look forward to! |

On your last round, what was your average number of shots per hole to get down from the moment you got within 70 metres of the flag? |
If you can get down in 3 or less 100% of the time from within 70 metres, would that transform your scorecard? How much better would your golf experience be? |
Invest at least time in technique improvement on your fundamental 70 – 20 metre pitch shots. You’ll become more accomplished. You can master this challenge. |
|
|
We have the new Srixon AD333 Golf Ball in stock. There are some important improvements that work to help your performance on the golf course. A lower spin rate on longer shots to add distance, yet powerful spin on shorter shots to give added control closer to the green. And an even lower compression while adding distance. |

Your swing is unique, but even with high-handicap golfers that doesn’t mean each swing is unique. Every handicap golfer has a ‘fingerprint’. That is, for each club in their bag, they deliver the face back to the ball on similar swing path with a similar angle of attack at a similar speed. What varies is the face angle and strike point. |
Can a fitting reduce a face angle that varies by 15° down to 1° of variation? No, but it can halve that variation. That reduces a #5 iron miss width from 40 metres down to 20 metres.
Can a fitting ensure that every point of strike on the face is perfect? No, but it can make your misses closer to the perfect strike point. And that reduces the amount by which you come up short of that target.
Together, that is a much tighter pattern of dispersion. |
Do know what the average number of metres added to a golfer’s tee shot with a custom driver fitting would be? |
It doesn’t matter. None of the averages matter. You’re an individual. It’s how much tighter we can make your shot dispersion. It’s about how much more consistent we can make your strike pattern. It’s about how much extra ball speed we can help you create. And it’s about the spin and flight and the impact that has on your distance. |
Take 45 – 60 minutes with us, and we’ll show you how we can make your golf experience better every time you play. |
