Join Us for Our First Ever Bullseye Shootout! |
We’re excited to host our inaugural Bullseye Shootout, and we want YOU to be part of the fun on Saturday 12 October at 15h00!
Event Details:
Tee Off: From the top terrace at the clubhouse, aiming towards the putting green.
How It Works: Targets will be set up on the green. Hit within the target to advance to the next round. Miss the target, and you’re out!
Cost: Free for all members!
Enjoy complimentary snacks and a refreshing Gin Station (while stocks last). And remember, chirping and banter are highly encouraged – so bring your best A-Game!
We’d love to see all our members come out for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition. |
The area from the 18th hole up to the clubhouse is temporarily closed as part of a project to eradicate Kikuyu grass and reseed with perennial rye grass. The area will reopen soon but will be closed again when reseeding begins. A non-selective herbicide has been applied, and the closure is necessary to prevent golfers from walking through the area and onto the greens. |
Have you used ScoreCapture yet? |

The Introduction to ScoreCapture has gone well!
The implementation of ScoreCapture prevents the human error aspect from the scoring process and enable the team to go straight into the prize-givings, thus drastically reducing the waiting period for golfers who have finished their rounds earlier than the rest of the field.
The ScoreCapture app links to the golfers’ HNA Handicap system and will automatically calculate golfers’ handicaps based on the selected competition format. This will streamline the check-in process for golfers as well as making scoring far easier, as the app will automatically calculate how many points you made on each hole.
The ScoreCapture app will also help reduce St Francis Links’s carbon footprint, ensuring a better future for all…
Some of the features include:
- Eclectic calculations (best scores on a hole with tournaments)
- Order of Merits (Gross/Net averages over selected tournaments)
- Rankings (Different points allocated to different tournaments)
- Digital scorecards showing gross, net, points, and your adjusted gross in an individual or 4-ball format
- GPS rangefinder with a full-screen map, with variable target, zoom, and tilt gestures
- Easy one-screen 4-ball scoring with all the info you need at your fingertips, including a “pickup” button that calculates your maximum score on the hole
- Analysis tools indicating your scoring, par 3, 4, 5 performances, target off the tee, greens in regulation, and putting stats in easy-to-view graphs for your game and your golf journey
- Detailed Matchplay scorecard screens with 4 Matchplay calculation types (drop to zero, scratch, net, or points)
Please download the ScoreCapture app on your phones and set up your profiles. |

The fourth big difference between a scratch golfer and 18-handicap golfer is distance off the tee. Not accuracy. Not even fairways found. It’s how far the scratch golfer goes off the tee with the driver. |
|
|
The benefits are obvious. Playing your 2nd shot closer to the hole with a shorter club should always lead to a lower score.
Want to hit every club further? Take a photo of your downswing with your hands in the position shown here. Where is your clubhead? |
|
The difference in hand speed between an 18-handicap golfer and scratch golfer is not as great as you think. How the scratch golfer releases the clubhead is usually very different and generates much higher clubhead speed. |
Want to gain those
30+ METRES?
|
Then come and let us look at your golf swing and especially your sequence of movements on the downswing. Get that right and, not only will you add a lot of distance, you will hit consistently better golf shots. |

With the Progressive Grooves in Srixon’s new ZX Mk II Irons, you get improved launch and distance on approach while adding spin and stopping power on scoring shots into the green. |

Last week we described the “cone of misses”. It’s used in a game management system designed to reduce the damage caused by the inevitable and frequent “misses” we all have.
How far would you take it? Below is a Par 3 with water down the right. An evil hole for sure. Aim at the flag or the centre of the green and your “cone of misses” includes the water. |
Or, do you take out the chance of an expensive visit to the water? Do you aim at the tree on the left? Aiming at that tree would surely feel odd. Would you feel “less of a golfer” aiming at the tree? |
Do you challenge yourself with questions like this? Do you think enough about how to manage your game, the golf ball, and your scorecard?
Does aiming at the tree go against your motivations for playing the game? If you haven’t already answered our question on your motivations, please do so now. |
Let us show you how you can lower your score |
If you’d like to experience the difference game management can make to your scorecard and handicap then please join us for an on-course playing lesson. You’ll almost certainly be surprised at how much better your scorecard could be. |
