Hitting the fairway or missing it in the bush can be the difference between a birdie or a double bogey. I very seldom see players hitting a 3 wood off the tee box.
The difference in distance between a 3 wood and a driver is in general only 15 meters. Hitting a driver in the bush 220m from the tee or hitting the fairway 200m from the tee with a 3 wood… I would rather hit my ball in the fairway.
I encourage you to go to the driving range and practice with your 3 wood to gain more confidence. Then when you play only use your driver when it is really necessary.
Give it a try, you will surprize yourself.
See you on the practice tee!
