The Ernie Els for Autism day is a must play!
As we come off three great charity days that raised thousand of rand for local needs, it’s time to enter the last big charity event of the “cool season” – Els for Autism with all funds raised staying in SA for the development of knowledge and treatment for those affected by autism. The charity, backed by Ernie and Liezl themselves, has aided in the development of the EEC – Ernie Els Centre in SA.
Charity is the real winner here!
Two Woodlands Dairy Daysfor HOSPICE and the Stulting School Fundraiser generated thousands of rands for their needs through golf and St Francis Links! We love running tournament s golf and running events professionally to ensure that it is a great day for the sponsors and the players! When I tried to discourage the Stulting organisers from following the Woodlands, they simply said, “no worries” and from what I heard from the supporters, they were very convincing and in the end, all fields for the three days were full! SAAAAAAWWWWEEEEEEEEETTT!
Woodlands Dairy celebrates a Hole-In-ONE as Tim Mountford fond the bottom of the cup on the 17th. Two days of perfect weather combined with the fine condition of the course led to great team scoring worthy of the prize tables provided for the two days and nearly 230 players. The winners on Day One were Mark Jensen and George Efstratiou on 49 points and Day Two, Dale Hunter and JP VD Merwe on 50 points. But, the real winner here again was charity – St Francis HOSPICE-Kouga! After sponsorships and players support and the the two auctions, a check was handed over for R350 000-00 to Sister Ingrid from Hospice!
After the event I received a mail stating more funds cam in that night thaking the total to a record R400 000-00!
Woodlands Dairy Days for HOSPICE (Kouga)
When I first me with the Supporters Group regarding the planning for their Golf Day, I asked how much they wanted to achieve in funds raised – tey responded with a condident “big number”. I then pointed out that following the Hospice days woulf be a challenge BUT that was the only day they could have because that was the only day their “celebs” could come – a challenge. I further pointed out that some of the “big players/contributors may be playing in the Hospice days – another challenge. THEY said, no problem.
The day was nearly full with 100 players (great job) and the dinner attracted more than 190 people (WOW). But the big news came after the event when I received a call from a member of the Supporters Group, who were relentless in getting the field full, in attracting sports legends, in securing a great Afrikaans MC (the American couldn’t touch what he did) and in raising what he believed would be more than R230 000-00 after all fees and costs for the day were paid Yeeeeeeehaaaaah!
Another Perrrrrrrrrrrfect Day for Golf – Everyone was a winner!
