Best Coffee, Best setting and…
The Links Ladies Coffee Break means just that! Pause for an hour to join the ladies of the Links for a cuppa! Just casual, no agenda, no formalities!
If you are involved in the Links in any way, whether you live at the Links or in the village, whether you are a principal member, nominated member, golfer or non-golfer, this is where you meet other ladies involved here for a casual catch-up!
The plan is to arrange this on a weekly basis: Whether 2 or 22 ladies gather, it’s nice to know there’s someone available for a cuppa and a chat. So please join us for the Links Ladies Coffee Break at the clubhouse on Tuesday mornings, at 10am.
So that the club knows how many to expect and to arrange seating for, please let us know by return e-mail whether you can make it …
Husbands – if you are reading this, please ensure that your wife sees it and replies … we may not have her direct e-mail address. And ladies, please feel free to ask your fellow-Links ladies if they received the mail. If not, please let me know so that I can forward and update the database. Thanks!
We look forward to seeing you!
Note We are off to a great start with a good turnout on the 1st of March
Hot weather takes its toll (and the critter, too)
The heat combined with the untimely need to replace a section of our main irrigation line causes a good deal of stress to the course. While the visitors compliment the course, we know that the damage to the surfaces is real – be it temporary. So, where we have damage to the playing surfaces, measures are already in place to repair them and return to top form.
In addition to the heat, we are also spraying for little critters who like the roots of our grasses and Kikuyu which likes to encroach into our playing surfaces. This is all part of the summer programme. The elimination of foreign grasses from the main playing surfaces is a yearly programme to ensure the play-ability and quicker playing surfaces that we are looking for.

Ladies League Play
Sandy Cunningham gathered her troops and we supplied the fuel (coffee and muffins) to discuss league play 2016. With a little help from our friends, Zwartenbosch and Hankey, we have formalized a side comprised of players from St Francis Links and our neighboring clubs. The ladies will wear the same shirts and compete for the title with their names and home clubs embroidered on the tops. We also used the meeting to discuss growing the game by introducing more members to the course, the rules for play and fun events to gain confidence. From next week, Rules of Golf will be outlined in our weekly newsletter and before play on Wednesday mornings. Our professionals will be on hand at 11am to discuss the “Rule of the Week”. Join US!
King Louis and Jaco Van Zyl make their mark

In South Africa, Jaco van Zyl, who won here in the Vodacom Origins of Golf, made it three PGA Championship victories as he defeated the in-form, Dean Burmester in a playoff. The event was resurrected by Eye of Africa developer, David Nagle, is one of South Africa’s oldest and most revered tournaments! South Africans have now won 5 times on the European Tour this year!
