Club Championships recap
The Investec Club Championships took place on the 26th and 27th of April.

A weekend filled with excitement, talent and some truly impressive performances from our young golfers!

Isabella Obray and Shaun Viljoen were the stars of the show, proving that you can be young and can also bring a cool and calm demeanour to the game of golf!

Isabella, affectionately known as Izzy, started her campaign strong and maintained her momentum throughout the tournament.

With rounds of 76 and an outstanding 71, she not only dominated the ladies’ section but did so with a commanding lead over our capable Ladies League Captain, Lynn Slogrove. In fact, Izzy’s performance was so stellar that she finished with an incredible 23-shot lead…Incredible!

On the men’s side, Shaun Viljoen made waves at just 15 years old!

He opened with a remarkable round of 69, which gave him a significant 7-shot lead over his closest competitor, Scott Keevy. The final day saw Shaun maintain his cool demeanour even when faced with pressure as his closest competitor (Scott Keevy) started off strong with a birdie. However, Shaun remained unfazed and delivered an impressive final round of 71. This performance secured him the Club Championship trophy by an astounding 13 shots, further solidifying his reputation as one of South Africa’s brightest golfing prospects.

Additionally, we would like to highlight our Nett Champions: Scott Keevy for the men and Sally Nienaber for the ladies. Their consistent play throughout the tournament deserves recognition!

This year’s Club Champs not only showcased incredible talent but also highlighted the bright future of golf at St Francis Links.

We look forward to seeing what these young stars will achieve in their golfing careers!

REFLECTION TIME
DID YOU START OFF RIGHT?
We want you to get more from your golf experience for the rest of the year. That starts by reflecting on how it’s gone thus far.
If you want to improve your golf there are a few key numbers you should reflect on. So, let’s go through one of those numbers now.
If you want to get to a 12–15 handicap range, then you will need to hit at least 7 fairways out of 14. If you want to get into single figures then it’s only a small improvement: 8–9 fairways found.

How did you do?
Think about your last rounds. How many of the fairways (not the par 3s) were you hitting off the tee?

And now we have a question
We’d like you to share something very small with us about your golf journey.
Answer now
SOFT WITHOUT
COMPROMISE
If you haven’t already, buy a sleeve of the Srixon Soft Feel, and test out that challenge. Do you gain distance? Are you any straighter? Do approach shots stop quicker? And as well as all those improvements, does it feel softer?
