…as Village Square Super Spar and St Francis Links team up to make it a special evening
Some of the pics from the evening – see the link below for more
Chef Jon and his team used the lamb and other ingredients that OUR SuperSpar provided and the dinner was amazing!
With Jo Brown on the microphone as emcee and auctioneer, the fund-raising evening for NSRI and Station 21 was sure to be a smash. The 200+ in attendance enjoyed their Durbanville Hills wines on offer and finished the night on the dance floor. The theme for the evening was Mardi Gras and I was amazed to see how far so many people went to embrace it. We may as well have been in “New Awlins” for the night. R220 000-00 was raised on the night taking the total raised for charity this year at the Links to more than R1,2M for various causes! Amazing Grace!

Golf Groups get the magic at St Francis Links
It’s all about flexibility and personalization
This past week we had an oversees group that stayed at the Golf Lodge with only one day available to play golf – Tuesday, when were were closed for our staff appreciation day. But, we made a plan. Elma served them and great breakfast before play and a light lunch after play and we provided snacks on the carts to offset being closed for halfway (what people don’t realize is the fact that Americans have never come to terms with a halfway stop and found the snacks to be a nice bonus). They were three couples and this was their last round in SA. As usual, we had prepared the carts and had them ready for delivery, splitting the group into 3’s. At breakfast, I suggested they just play a six-ball (because we were closed and they could). To their delight, they headed out as 6 – couples vs couples, playing ready-golf. Less than 5 hours later, they came off with the course and their care, the highlight of the tour. Flexibility pays off again – remember, Ladies and Gentlemen do not need rules!
Sometimes, you just have to go outside the box.
On Saturday, the annual Squash Club Triple-Crown, featuring squash, tennis and golf between teams from Western Prooooovince, Easter Cape and Gauteng, finished their event with us. Greg Darke, their host for the weekend, made sure that it all came down to a Shoot-Out with 12 teams playing alternate shot from the 1st tee -12 balls in play on hole 1, 8 balls in play on hole 2 and 4 balls for the top-4 places on 3. It was enthusiastic to say the least with the winners coming from a putt/chip off on the last. The pictures tell the story:
