We all have choices!
Over the holidays, there were many days where the entire upper level of the Clubhouse was packed with holidaymakers, big families and friends. The jumping castle was in full motion so the east side of the building was always humming. That meant that there were no queues because we offered nearly 200 seats. But there were times, as expected, that the kitchen team would come under pressure. As pointed out in last week’s “By the Numbers” nearly 52 000 items were served from the kitchen, bar and halfway. Our emphasis was on serving quality and consistent meals. If there was a wait more than 20-30 minutes, I played Mr Microphone and addressed the room. It went something like this, “Welcome everyone. We are happy that you have chosen the Links today where there is ample parking, seating, great food and service. It is the New Year and we all have choices. I choose to be REMARKABLE, INCREDIBLE. You can choose to be that way too. Stay away from negative people as they may pull you down! By the way, it may take a little longer than normal, but it’s worth waiting for! Besides, where else do you NEED to be.”
I think the “negative” people, by nature, went quiet! The remarkable people had a great time!
We are now back to the normal swing of things as was made apparent on Monday with the return of the Bridge Club. On Mondays, the popular evening favorites return with more variety on offer. Wednesday is the place to be for the best curries around. See the menu selections below! Open Wednesday, sponsored by ITEC is set for the 13th of February and Valentine’s will be another must DO event. Be remarkable at a place filled with remarkable people!
Els for Autism Returns to The Links – The only Eastern Cape Event!
Els for AUTISM is very close to my heart having watched Ernie and Liezl come to terms with it in their own lives. Their efforts worldwide have changed the perception of Autism everywhere. I hosted two Autism days here and then stood back for a year because I felt I was calling on the same people over and over. This year we are bringing it back on the 28th of February. I am sure you know someone who has someone in their life who has a form of Autism, like Ernie and Liezl’s Ben. Their centre and structures in SA are reliant on local funding. The golf events generate proper financial support.
The entry fee for the event is R5000 per fourball with special pricing for members. This includes golf fees, 1/2way, Prizegiving Dinner, Welcome gifts (great stuff) and prizes. The winners on the day are invited to make their way to Lost City where every expense there will be included and the finals will be held.
I do want you to play in the event and encourage others to join in! Contact golf@stfrancislinks.com
