League side wins
Our first Men’s League side has come out of the blocks winning! As it is our first year in League, we start in the 3rd Division and move up from there.
The gentlemen that played were Kevin Boag, Jacques VD Walt, Fouche Swart, Boetie and Pieter Zietzman and Fred Van Eyssen.
To put it mildly, they smashed the opposition!
The Marylebone Cricket Club at SFL
We had the pleasure to host the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) from England. We played a friendly Betterball match against them, 16 players a-side. We won 5 matches and lost 3. Home course advantage gave us the upper hand. After the game, we all got together and enjoyed a special curry night dinner. We would like to thank the MCC for visiting us, we loved having you here and we know you will be back soon. One of the players, Richard Norton had a hole in one on our Par 4 5th hole. Albatross, we do not see many of them. Congratulations, we know you are going to pay for it… the whole tour long.
The MCC was founded in 1787 and has 23000 members, with a waiting list of more than 20 years. One if not the biggest clubs there is!

We had our first SuperSpar Pam Golding monthly fourball alliance competition. Thank you to the sponsors, it was a great first event. Winning with 87 points, Howard Gill, Jonathan Hool, Geoff Garratt and Brett Wilson-Jones. Richard Norton (MCC Golf Society) had an incredible Hole in One. He did not get it on a Par 3, he managed to get a 1 on a Par 4. The 5th hole played with the wind and he managed to hit his tee shot in the hole. Incredible!
