We do Charity and we do it WELL!
I looked at Nico van Rensburg before the prizegiving and Auction began and said, “Let’s roll with it and see where it takes us!” The only plan was to make sure we showed the videos in order, serve the “mains” on time and then generate as much enthusiasm as we could! Before the event, I sent a couple of letters to friends to see if a little extra sponsorship could be attracted to cover some of the hard costs like welcome snacks, halfway and dinner. Sieg Lokotsch and his company, Jendermark, got properly stuck in! Another member friend anonymously added R20 000 to Sieg’s contribution and we were off and running. Nearly 100 golfers paid to play; so, before the auction, we were about R130 000 to the good! Then the fun began when we just threw an item into the auction that would go unused if not taken. Heinrich Vosloo paid R2000 for tickets to the Bulls/Lions match and then the Proteas and Sri Lanka for cricket on Sunday. One phone call to the wife, two air tickets later, and they were off! Then, we were off, selling 11 items (some more than once). The guys in the room were simply fantastic, paying properly for the items up for sale. R411 000-00 (Nett) later and Els for Autism were the beneficiaries! Nico van Rensburg, Brand Manager for the Els Group, said it was one the best results in the history of the event. Not bad for little St Francis and the Eastern Cape.
Thanks, everyone!
Road trip!
This past weekend we played host to a number of groups, some international and some local. As I have said so many times before, Road Trips and making memories really turn us on. It’s FUN doing the little things that make a difference – sometimes it’s the groups themselves who steal the show with special gear and outfits. Check out the headwear from the Theron Group and the matching shirts from guys playing in the Sweet and Short Cup, their 10th anniversary. Our first-ever Road Trip, Aloe-Aloe, headed by Colin Higgins, returned for their 13th time to SFL. In addition to their event, they also supported the Els for Autism day!
If he got the “snake” I’m not sure if he’s paying or receiving! The boys are chillin’ at the 18th…
The bets carried on after the game and what do you think he won…
Properly dressed!
Aloe-Aloe returned for the 13th time!
The Links Team pitches in…clearing firebreaks
St Francis Links supports our beautiful village and today was no different. We are proud to be involved in community projects such as the very important bush clearing and alien eradication initiative. Here, they teamed up with members of the Kouga Fire department and others.
