Improvements Galore at St Francis Links!
We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates happening. As the renovations continue upstairs, we’ve been busy giving the downstairs a little love too. You may have already noticed a fresh new look in the Golf Shop and the passageway leading to the lockers.

Out with the old, in with the new! We’ve waved goodbye to our 18-year-old green carpets!

The change has truly brightened up the space, making it feel larger and more inviting. We’ve aimed for a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and we believe we’ve achieved just that! We hope you’ll agree when you next visit.

Weather you like it or not!
You May be surprised by the weather stats on our course during May!
The weather is always a hot (or cold) topic of discussion. And May was no exception, with its unique wind patterns and precipitation levels. Let’s dive in and explore what made May so interesting.
Wind Direction Matters
Wind direction is a crucial aspect of setting up our course – and how your strategy will be on the day, with winds blowing in from various directions. Or so we thought.

In reality, we didn’t have a single day with a South-South-West (usually our prevailing wind), opting instead for a prevailing West-North-West wind for the month.

A Month of Mild Breezes and Gusty Days
The highest wind speed recorded in May was a respectable 62 km/h on the 20th, which is just a gentle breeze for our members (If you are reading this in Johannesburg – don’t worry – it’s about a 5 club wind). However, the average wind speed for the month was a mere 10 km/h, making May one of the fairest weather months of the year.
Rainy Days and Totals
As we transitioned into the winter months, we experienced a decent amount of rainfall, with a total measurement of 94 mm. This is a significant amount, but not entirely unexpected, given the time of year.
May’s weather was a mixed bag, with unexpected wind patterns, mild breezes, and a decent amount of rainfall.

What does it mean to be
‘A GOLFER’?
Do you only consider yourself ‘a golfer’ when you’re shooting under 85? Or when you’re driving the ball over 200 metres? Is the term ‘golfer’ reserved for men, while women are consigned to ‘lady golfer’? No, no and no. If you’re on a golf course swinging a club at a ball, you’re a golfer.
Get them INVOLVED
You don’t need to be a certain age, gender or skill level to be a golfer. But you do need an opportunity to start playing. Someone to introduce you to the game. Could you be that someone? If you have a relative, friend or colleague who you think would enjoy being a golfer, why not gift them a lesson or bring them along to the course?

ENGINEERING TO MAKE YOUR GAME BETTER RIGHT NOW
Design and Engineering innovation to improve your tee-shot performance is often invisible. The complex latticework in the Srixon ZXi Star-Frame Crown changes how weight can be positioned in the clubhead to improve your tee-shot performance.
This one innovation makes it easier to deliver benefits associated with ball speed, launch angle, carry distance, ball flight and fairways found, and consistency. Improvement everywhere.
Your Personal Experience of How Much Better
The right shaft for your golf swing can also add to all of those benefits. So can the right model variation. And so can the right setup. That’s why a fitting adds so much to the experience you’ll have every time you use your new driver.
