The Annual Men’s Invitational draws 160 players

This year’s entries far surpassed the 136 entries that we advertised for escalated to 164, and without great weather and a responsive field (to speed of play) we would have been under pressure to finish. At the prizegiving that followed on Saturday night, the more than 200 guests were treated to Chef Pieter’s first big event. Fouché Swart and his partner, Leon Pieterse came out on top after two brilliant days of golf. Their 46-43=89 total distanced themselves from runners-up, Andrew Vogal and Michael Gallinetti and 3rd place finishers, Archie Bell and Graham Will who both finished on 86. . See all results below.

It’s the 151st Open Championship

 

Brian Harmon has had plenty of top 10s but no wins lately. This past weekend he was flawless!

 

The improvements just keep coming!

With the recent good rains, the lower areas in front of 16 are filled with water. In fact, the overflow is making its way to to The bay course and running safely through their course. Charl and his team removed the wooden bridges and we will reply on the more natural grass walkways.

We have also received good input from our Directors, Mike Wylie and Gert Vorster regarding a new path at 11 and the removal of unnecessary post and rail fencing, used primarily to control cart traffic. We will be converting to natural deterrents and small stakes and rope to control excess wear.

We have removed the steps on the second tees at 11, upgraded the steps behind 14, using grit as the surface and replaced the stair at 15 with vertical steps and grass. We will monitor these solutions. The work on the 17 tees has begun today (Thursday).
